John 3: 16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What heaven is like I’ve not been told,
Even though I’m getting old,
No one’s come back and sealed my fate,
Is there really a golden gate?
Are there mansions like the bible says?
Angels with harps on clouds do play,
Are the people dressed in white?
Lighting up the sky at night.

I’m told it’s just like paradise,
With golden pavements nice and bright,
Green fields beautiful flowers,
There you can roam for hours and hours,
If that is right my best dress I’ll wear,
Make sure in it there is no tear,
Can’t go looking scruffy to meet the King of kings,
Who’ll take me in his palace to check I’m pure within.

I’ll curtsey as a lady should,
He’ll say I’m glad you’ve been so good,
I’ll be escorted by an angel,
Down a golden road not a stable,
But to a mansion shiny white,
Don’t need electric light,
With angels protecting,
With their shrouds.

Then in the place that’s just next door,
My husband sits upon the floor,
There are no men and wives in space,
Just normal mortals of the human race,
But these are dreams of what it’s like,
But they might come true,
If it does I’ll trust my Lord,
He’ll show me what to do.
