As I slumbered in the night,
My friend woke up and had a fright,
To wake me up sat on my bed,
It felt like a lump of lead,
I heard a noise downstairs said she,
I wonder if you’ll come with me,
You go first I’m right behind,
Like the blind leading the blind.
Very slowly went downstairs went all of a quiver,
As I reached the bottom felt a little shiver,
Poked my head around the door,
Feet planted firmly on the floor,
Pounding heart blood pressure rising,
Well under these conditions it isn’t surprising,
Light went on quick with nothing to see,
Thank goodness for that cause the first one was me.
I could have been clobbered or hurt real bad,
Then I would have been hopping mad,
My friend suffers with asthma she’d been fighting for breath,
She’d been gasping and panting couldn’t talk on the phone,
To tell the police sergeant what’s happened at home,
But everything’s safe with nothing to fear oh what a night oh dear oh dear,
I crawled back to bed curled up for the night,
And prayed she wouldn’t get another fright.
