I’ve got a brand new grandchild I’m as happy as can be,
When I asked what was her name they said little Amy,
Brian’s so excited, he’s bubbling up with joy,
It didn’t really matter if it was a girl or a boy.
Bev’s a lovely mother who to me is very dear,
I do not hang about the door and never interfere,
Now she’s got her hands full with nappies at the ready,
If Brian goes to change her I hope his hand is steady.
It’s nice to be a grandma, eleven I have got,
Each one is so precious I’m happy with my lot,
So bless you my dear Amy grow up big and strong,
You’ll soon be out of nappies, it wont take very long.
I see that you’re so beautiful,
A treasure to behold,
A pretty girl then you,
Will be as years they do unfold.
Once a twinkle in daddy’s eye,
A smile on mummy’s lips,
But now you’re here to bring us cheer,
What joy my heart does sing.
A sparkling jewel, a radiant smile,
No matter whether day or night,
A crusted emerald in a crown,
The little one with eyes of brown.
