As our life goes sailing by,
Who can we trust, on whom to rely,
You search and search but to no avail,
Folk let you down mouth and trial.
What to do, where to turn,
Who to speak to you do yearn,
Then sitting quiet in your room,
In silent prayer to God you turn.
I need some to trust dear Lord,
You’re all that’s left I hope you hear,
There’s such a lot to tell,
I’ve got a lot of fears.
My Lord is my saviour, my Lord is my friend,
I know he’ll be with me right up to the end,
The one I rely on when things go wrong,
When I’m praising I’ll sing him a song.
My Jesus lay down his life on a cross,
To give me my freedom and take away pain,
And forgive all my sins for he is the boss,
His promises give us something to gain.
So when within the silence there seemed a flowing heat,
Filling all the body and even on the seat,
Hoorah I’ve found a friend, oh what joy,
Now listen Jesus who’d have thought that just like this we’d meet,
